Bold, Statement Jewellery…
Colour brings passion and visibility
Ceciel designs her bold statement jewellery in her studio in Cornwall where the hand crafted pieces form part of a bespoke output for individual clients and is also to be found in discerning galleries and shops across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Traditional Crafts
Hand piercing, shaping, forming and polishing form the basis of Ceciel’s designs. The Contemporary layers of Pewter and Acryllics are then riveted together, sometimes featuring additional components such as semi precious spheres.
Riveting
Riveting: A traditional craft; securing multiple layers by heading off open or closed rivets by hand using a shaped rivet hammer. These rivets form an integral part of the design, a feature to be acknowledged and thereby laying bare the construction details. This also allows for the pieces to be deconstructed and its components easily recycled. Pewter can be melted down and cast into new pieces indefinitely.
Cornish Mining Heritage
Cornwall and its rich mining heritage of over 2000 years, has a major influence on choosing Pewter as the main metal used in Ceciel’s jewellery. Pewter’s largest component is Tin, traditionally mined in Cornwall along with Copper. Ruined engine houses are an integral part of the Cornish landscape and are the atmospheric reminders of this rich industry.
Pewter
Modern pewter contains no lead and is an alloy of tin, copper, antimony and bismuth. Composition as determined by the European Standard for pewter.
